Autism in Cricket The 2019/2020 cricket season saw the launch of our Autism in Cricket program. This program is designed to break down barriers to participation so children with Autism

We commenced work this year to create more inclusive cricket clubs throughout WA. A partnership was established with the West Australian Cricket Association (WACA) and the Wembley Districts Cricket Club, to engage more children with Autism in sport. In addition, we have been extremely privileged to have Adam Gilchrist join with the Autism Association as the program’s Ambassador. In its first year the program has seen: • The development of an extensive range of videos and resources for coaches, managers, clubs and parents of children with Autism. • A video series starring Adam Gilchrist, Autism Association therapists, and staff from the WACA to create awareness of Autism and inclusion in sport. • The launch of a leadership program to celebrate clubs who demonstrated a commitment to inclusion with 10 community clubs receiving an award. • Come and Try days hosted in partnership with the WACA that saw over 80 children and adults in attendance. • An award for Excellence in Innovation at the 2020 Western Australian Disability Support Awards.
