Autism Association 2024 Annual Report
Light Up The Spectrum
This April, we recognised World Autism Month, starting with World Autism Day and the commencement of World Autism Week on Tuesday the 2 nd of April. The theme throughout the month was Learn Together. Grow Together. The handprint tree was a central part of this campaign, designed to reflect the unique handprint each individual has on our community and the change we can bring about together. On World Autism Day, many locations joined with us in activities to set the scene for our biggest ever Light Up the Spectrum trail, which saw 42 landmarks across metro and regional WA light up the State in a spectrum of colour. Several locations were new for 2024, including Parliament House, His Majesty’s Theatre, WA Police Headquarters, Crown Perth, Nannup Clock Tower, and the HEART building in Margaret River. Once again, this campaign saw other states across Australia get involved, shining a light on the purpose of this initiative and igniting change across the nation. A big thank you to everyone who followed the trail map and shared their photos at each landmark using the hashtag #LightUptheSpectrum, and to all participating locations for lighting up to ignite change. During World Autism Month, the West Australian community came together in a range of ways to ignite change.
