Autism Association 2022 Annual Report

International Collaboration

Thanks to WA State Government funding through the Department of Communities, we continued in partnership with East Java as part of the Sister State Agreement with Western Australia. This included ongoing consultation and webinars throughout the year. This year, the Association’s CEO presented the keynote address during the Indonesia-wide webinar on Supporting Children and Adolescents with ASD in Schools and was invited as a Keynote Speaker to an East Java Forum attended by 330 professionals, including clinicians, teachers, academics and government officials. We have facilitated several international online workshops with participants joining from across several provinces in East Java. The Forum Peduli Autisme Jawa Timur (FPAJT) continues to go from strength to strength, increasing Autism awareness, not only in East Java but across Indonesia. This instrumental work is breaking down barriers for students with Autism by creating inclusive educational frameworks within Indonesia. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 environment, we continued our training programs online via various collaborations and webinars. This initiative began in 2011 and since this time has seen a significant transformation in the understanding and knowledge of Autism, with the program’s trained alumni progressing to present workshops and consultancy to educators across East Java. We are very appreciative of the State Government’s support of this program and look forward to more face-to-face contact in a more stable COVID environment.
